INDUSTRIAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Industrial Training is a key component of the Bachelor of Human Resource Development (HRD) program at Qaiwan International University, delivered in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). This structured, real-world experience bridges the gap between academic learning and industry practice, preparing students for successful careers in the field of Human Resources.

1. Credit Hour Requirement (Final Semester)

During the final semester (as per the study plan), students must complete a total of 12 credit hours under the Industrial Training module, divided into:

  • SHMR 4028: Industrial Training (Practical) – 8 Credit Hours

  • SHMR 4034: Industrial Training (Report) – 4 Credit Hours

2. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for Industrial Training, students must have successfully completed all core and elective courses from previous semesters. This ensures they are academically prepared to apply their knowledge in a professional setting.

3. Duration and Placement

  • Minimum training duration: 20 weeks

  • Training must be conducted in a recognized public or private sector organization, approved by the Faculty and the Quality Assurance Unit.

  • Placement must be in a relevant HRD-related department or unit to ensure meaningful and applicable learning experiences.

4. Learning Objectives

Throughout the training, students will:

  • Engage in core HR functions such as recruitment, training and development, employee relations, performance management, and HR strategy.

  • Develop key professional skills in communication, teamwork, organizational operations, and problem-solving.

  • Gain a deeper understanding of current trends and challenges in the HR industry.

5. Assessment Components

To successfully complete the training, students must:

  • Maintain a detailed logbook to record daily tasks, learning outcomes, and supervisor feedback.

  • Submit a comprehensive Industrial Training Report (SHMR 4034) that critically reflects on their experiences and how academic knowledge was applied in the workplace.

  • Present a formal presentation to academic assessors from both QIU and UTM, summarizing their training experience, contributions, and personal development.

6. Expected Outcomes

Upon completion, students will:

  • Demonstrate practical knowledge of HR operations in real organizational contexts.

  • Strengthen their professional skills and workplace readiness.

  • Be well-prepared for employment or further advancement in the field of Human Resource Development.

This Industrial Training module is not only a graduation requirement, but a transformative experience that aligns with QIU and UTM’s mission to produce industry-ready graduates equipped with practical skills, critical thinking, and strong professional ethics.
