HRD FINAL YEAR PROJECT (FYP) STRUCTURE



Stage 1: SHMR 3042 – Undergraduate Project (Proposal)

Semester: 6
Credit Hours: 2
Project Type: Individual

This stage focuses on planning and designing the research study. Students are required to prepare the research proposal consisting of:

  • Chapter 1: Introduction
    Background, problem statement, objectives, scope, and significance of the study.

  • Chapter 2: Literature Review
    Critical review and analysis of relevant theories, concepts, and previous research.

  • Chapter 3: Research Methodology
    Research design, data collection methods, research instruments, and data analysis plan.

Prerequisite:
Successful completion of SHMR 3033: Introduction to Research Methods (Semester 5).

Supervision Structure:

  • Main Supervisor: HRD Lecturer from QIU

  • Co-Supervisor: Academic staff appointed by UTM

Student Requirement:
Students must attend three (3) scheduled presentation/consultation meetings with the UTM Co-supervisor for structured feedback and guidance.


Stage 2: SHMR 4014 – Undergraduate Project (Report)

Semester: 7
Credit Hours: 4
Project Type: Individual

This stage involves conducting the research, analysing data, and completing the full research report. Students are required to submit:

  • Revised Chapters 1–3 (based on comments received in Stage 1)

  • Chapter 4: Data Analysis and Results
    Data presentation, analysis (statistical or thematic), and interpretation.

  • Chapter 5: Discussion, Conclusion & Recommendations
    Key findings, implications, limitations of the study, and suggestions for future research.

Prerequisite:
Successful completion of SHMR 3042: Undergraduate Project (Proposal) (Semester 6).

Supervision & Assessment:

  • Main Supervisor: HRD Lecturer from QIU

  • Co-Supervisor: HRD Lecturer from UTM

  • Students must attend three (3) structured meetings with the UTM Co-supervisor.

  • The course concludes with a Final Viva Voce evaluated by a UTM-appointed examiner.
